SKY No Limits
Students who are in the SKY program learn the curriculum by completing a series of projects. In the SKY program, students have a voice in which projects they complete so they can choose to investage problems that capture their interest. The projects help students to develop skills in collaboration, communication, critical thinking and the use of technology. Students are evaluated throughout the project as opposed to a traditional program where they would be evaluated at the end of the unit with a test. At the completion of the project, students present their work to the teacher and to their peers. The final mark they receive comes from self evaluation, peer evaluation and teacher evaluation. Studies have shown that students who engage in project based learning learn more and retain the knowledge longer than students who engage in a tradition program.
