About Us

Richmond Virtual is a District Online School that opened in 2007.  We offer flexible, high quality online learning options for school age and adult students who need an alternative to traditional classroom schedules.

Our courses follow BC’s curriculum and are taught by certified Richmond teachers who provide personalized guidance, clear communication, and meaningful feedback. Whether students are completing full time online studies, supplementing their in school timetable, or pursuing specific academic goals, Richmond Virtual provides supportive instruction, engaging digital learning environments, and accessible pathways to success.  We use Moodle as our course management system.

With a focus on flexibility and individualized pacing, Richmond Virtual helps learners thrive, wherever and whenever they learn best.

RVS courses and programs are open to all residents of Richmond, regardless of whether or not they are also enrolled in an independent/private school or francophone education Authority.

Richmond Virtual School is a program of Continuing Education and is overseen by Mr. Jason Higo & Ms. Huey Wong (District Admin.).  Richmond Virtual School's office is located at Palmer Secondary.

We look forward to connecting with you and supporting you to find success with RVS!

Continuous Entry (beginning Fall 2026)

RVS grade 10-12 courses will move to a continuous entry model beginning in September 2026.  Students will be able to sign up and begin asynchronous (no fixed schedule) courses.   Students will be supported to set a personalized schedule with their teacher and will be able to arrange for support with teachers during office hours.

Fast-Track Semester 3 Program (June-August 2026)

For this semester 3  (June-August) we will have approximately 25 teachers who offer over 30 different courses in grades 10 - 12.  Semester 3 will have a blended learning model where students attend class meetings twice a week during the summer and engage in online activities at other times.  All summer meetings take place at Palmer Secondary School.

*Although most adult learners access courses through Continuing Education, RVS is open to recent graduates.

RVS acknowledges and thanks the First Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓  (hun-ki-meen-um) language group on whose traditional and unceded territories we teach, learn and live.
